Hello and Welcome to 'Excursions by Deanne Frances'!
I'm Deanne Frances Rabon, Owner of 'Excursions by Deanne Frances'. I'm a recently retired community college faculty member, Coordinator, Counselor, Associate Professor, with a long history of event planning. From overnight student field trips, to on-campus concerts and community open house events, to family reunions and casino crawls, I've done it and love
doing it! Oh... Most Importantly, I'm a Junior-Senior at 59, plus sized, and am madly in love with the people, culture, and beauty of the Dominican Republic!
I began traveling as an infant, when my mother started her nearly 40 year career as an Agent with Trans World Airlines (TWA). Flying around to see new places, meet new people, and visiting family and friends, was a pleasure and a privilege. Then one day, my claustrophobia got the better of me, and I stopped flying all-together.
BUT... a few years ago, I decided to face my fears, and get back in the sky! I planned a girl's trip to the Dominican Republic (D.R.), with three friends. However, by the time the travel date rolled around, everyone had backed out, and I had to decide if I was going to postpone my long overdue trip, or if I was going to head to the D.R. on my own.
Well, I DID IT! I took the trip solo and three airports, two countries, two hotels and thirteen days later, I was a better person and a different person, for having gone. It was life changing! The country was full of beautiful beaches, beautiful people, and for me, a sense of inner peace, overall tranquility and healing. I had never experienced anything like it before! After, what I proudly call my 'Face Your Fears' trip, I knew I had to share with others the magic I had found while in the D.R.
I believe that we can live our dreams, face our fears, and change our stories, at any beautiful age, size, or stage in life; and I hope my story encourages you to join me in the D.R.!
